RECTOR'S SPEECH
The Minas Gerais State University (Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais - UEMG) is a public, tuition free and multicampi Brazilian university, created in 1989. Its 20 academic units are located in 16 cities around the state of Minas Gerais, and the Rectory is located in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais capital). In these 30 years of existence, UEMG has developed an important role in the state’s history construction and its people’s transformation through its 115 undergraduate programs, 7 master programs, 2 PhD programs, as well as many specialization programs, seminars and several other events held at the institution. Therefore, UEMG has excellence in academic production, with innumerous research projects that contribute/contributed to Minas Gerais’s economic growth and the local professionalization.
With approximately 21 thousand students enrolled annually, UEMG works hard to consolidate itself as a respected institution in the dimensions of Research, Education and Extension in Minas Gerais. Moreover, the University is respected in the Brazilian academic scenario for prizing cultural valuation, political formation, environmental and scientific awareness, among other perspectives. With researches awarded regionally, stately, nationally and internationally, UEMG’s professors have a proactive behavior and they are committed to many academic projects, funded through scholarships for their students.
